Next Men’s Breakfast October 31st. 8:00 AM
Prayer is foundational to Ministry at South Shore. We depend on the faithful prayer Warriers of the church, as we encourage men to grow in Christ, support one another, and live out their faith with purpose. Three words that capture the heart of this ministry, as I see it: meditating (on God’s word in our Small Groups and through the week), missions (with-in our own church and world wide), and mentoring (one another in day-to-day conversations, plus offering and providing formal training in the church). As a leader, organizing, planning and administering are one of my gifts and I will use it for God’s glory and ultimately as a way of worship. Feel free to contact me anytime, sincerely IHG, Doug.
Meditating on Scripture
One key focus is discussing the truths of Scripture together. By reflecting on and bringing to mind some small aspect from the previous Sunday’s message, men can be encouraged. Creating unity within small groups and help one another think deeply about what is on each person’s heart and mind. Sharing these concerns and being reminded of God’s Word strengthens our prayers throughout the day, wherever we find ourselves.
Serving Through Missions
Although not everyone is able to serve abroad, there are many opportunities to meet the needs of others close to home through lifestyle evangelism. This may include practical service within our church family or supporting mission work in places such as Quebec or Madagascar. Coming together for work projects that demonstrate Christlike care in both our words and actions. We have lots of opportunities to be His hands and feet. Compiling a list to needs will be the starting point. Tasks may require 3 or 4 skilled men, a dozen to help clear up somebodies back yard or those who have a truck and trailer to help someone move. Attendance or number of hands depends on availability on any date. Either of these ideas may take a morning or a day.
Mentoring and Discipleship
I have had three mentors in my younger life. Our congregation includes many young men and boys who would benefit from intentional discipleship. With a large group of youth, youth leaders, and approximately 50 men who could mentor or be mentored, we have a significant opportunity and responsibility to invest in one another. Mentoring does not depend on age; each man’s relationship with the Lord can offer a meaningful example and encouragement to others.
Galatians 3:5-6 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
